Journalist workshops on hypertension, risk of cardiovascular diseases, and its way forward have been held recently. The country lacks adequate public awareness and availability of healthcare services and free of cost medications in this regard. Research and advocacy organization PROGGA (Knowledge for Progress) conducted these workshops with the support from Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI), an international organization, in order to strengthen the role of media on hypertension issues. Fifty-one journalists heralding from print, television, and online media houses participated in these two-day- long workshops. The discussants at these workshops included representatives of the Health Services Division (HSD), and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), World Health Organization (WHO), Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), National Heart Foundation (NHF), BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, and GHAI, as well as media gatekeepers.
